You’ve probably heard people say some crazy things about life, and how we do what we do. My favorite one is that our lives are just a simulation, and someone is controlling every move we make. Well excuse me, but whoever is in charge of my decisions is very bad at this game. I did not ask to be born, work, be miserable and then die. It sounds morbid, but I felt like this for a long time and I’m sure many others still do. Everything that could go wrong, absolutely did and I was done with it.

I wanted to focus on something this week that ties into last weeks post really seamlessly. Considering the fact that we are in charge of our own emotions and reactions. We always blame things that are out of our control for the way that we feel. That is what this week’s focus is on, knowing what is in your control and what is not. The key is to control what you are able to and let go of everything else. There are an infinite amount of examples I could give depending on the person. You will have unique barriers connected to your specific lifestyle.

No external influences or situations matter, you can’t dictate anything outside of your physical being. You can’t control how others treat you or how others take care of themselves. You are unable to determine actions that happen around you. Whether it’s directed at you or someone else. How others think and feel has nothing to do with you, that is their choice. If you’re anything like me, I absorb people’s emotions and hardships and often take responsibility on improving their lives. Often forgetting that I’m important to. It is okay to care about people and want to help them, just do not forget that at the end of the day YOU are the priority. You could give someone every ounce of your energy and they could turn on you in a second, which you have no control over. You know that YOU will always be there, so focus your energy on yourself and what you are needing to thrive.

REMEMBER! What you can control is the people you surround yourself with. How you react to situations. How you treat others and a really important one is how you choose to live each day. If you feel like all you do is eat, sleep, work, repeat.. pick up a hobby to keep your mind stimulated! If you wake up everyday and not want to get out of bed because you hate your job, figure out what it is you love doing. It’s cliché but it will never feel like work if you’re passionate about it. If you’re miserable living pay cheque to pay cheque like many of us are, how can you budget yourself to enhance your money situation? Have you been living in the same environment or city all your life and just want to experience some place new, DO IT NOW! Don’t sit back and say yeah I’ll start tomorrow or next week, because in a second you’ll blink and your life will completely pass you by. We get ONE LIFE, don’t take it for granted.

People will say it’s easier said than done.. it’s really not though. If you try really hard and focus on the changes that need to be made, you will accomplish everything you strive for. You will make sure you do everything it takes to make it happen. Once you are able to determine what you can control and what you cannot, I promise you that your quality of life will drastically change for the better. Take life into your hands and OWN IT.

CHALLENGE TIME: I want you to think of one situation in your life that you are unhappy with. Then come up with a plan on what you’re going to do to make it better, then give yourself a realistic deadline. When you have a finish line, it pushes you to work for it! Good Luck!
