Hi everyone! I’m trying to adjust my formatting and how I’m presenting my thoughts to you. I ask that you bear with me while I find my way through this blogging life xx Thank you for the support up until this point and I hope I can better myself and my content for you!

With all that said, it is time for today’s topic!

Something that I’ve been experiencing recently is being very overwhelmed and burnt out. I have a very demanding job with a ton of responsibilities. I am the queen of constantly thinking about work and allowing it to consume my life. This, of course is extremely unhealthy and can lead to difficulties in every aspect of your life. I have not exactly grasped the “Leave work, at work” concept. However I have been doing a ton of work on myself to correct this. Nowadays, we are having to work twice as hard in order to accomplish the bare minimum. Things are only getting harder as days go by. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with working hard! It’s just extremely difficult to stay afloat with the loads we are all carrying. Let’s change this!

Learn to say NO! I am one who hates disappointing people, so this was always really hard for me. I would agree to ANYTHING I was asked to do. Even if that meant completely ignoring my needs. Most of the time, time was not on my side. I would basically have to be in 2 places at once sometimes. I would make it work no matter what and make sure everyone was satisfied. Obviously not thinking about myself. When I realized how precious my time was.. that is when I was able to balance my responsibilities. If I know my time is more valuable doing something else, I am a lot more comfortable saying “no”.

Get just enough rest. This not only means get 8 hours of sleep every night. That is important but this includes your “off time”. First of all, 8 hour sleep is way too much for me. I wake up feeling sluggish and over tired. 6-7 hours is just the amount of sleep I need to feel energized and ready to tackle my day. I work Monday to Friday, which is great yes. However, once Friday hits..... I am BEAT. The weekends are my only days to relax and I would ALWAYS pack so much in two days. Sunday night would hit and I’m exhausted, and now I have to go back to work and do it all over again. Now, I of course will plan a couple things to do. I just make sure I am setting time aside for myself to relax and maybe self pamper a little bit. For me this is reading, writing, drinking a tea, doing a face mask or watching a show or movie. Don’t forget some cozy blankets! This is my picture perfect “Me Time”

WORK.LIFE.BALANCE. I can not tell you that I am able to do this perfectly at all. I still go home and log onto my work email. I will bring work material home to review. I’m constantly thinking about patients and things I have to do the following day. It’s insane. I love my job and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. However, when I step out of the clinic I would like my work brain to shut off. Much easier said than done but let’s be honest... I’m not getting any extra $$$ thinking about work once I get home. Not to sound money hungry but come on..it’s true. I’m getting there!! I’m definitely making progress and I am getting less and less “work obsessed”. This will take time and I understand that. Take it from me, no matter what you do for a living, KEEP IT OUT OF YOUR PERSONAL LIFE. This could also go the other way, you may have a hectic personal life or something stressful that is affecting you at work. Which is then not allowing you to do your job to the best of your ability. Keep your personal life at home and keep your work life at WORK. It’ll make all the difference and prevent any burnout!!

I hope this helps you maintain a healthy, balanced and enjoyable life!

Back at it with the challenges!

I wanna know what your picture perfect

“Me Time” looks like. Then make sure to dedicate one night to yourself and make it a reality.

xx
